“Kiss Me, I’m Irish”

Every year, on March 17th, people all around the world want nothing more than to be Irish for the day. It is the one day of the year where Guinness, Harp, Smithwick’s, and Bailey’s Irish Cream are sought after more than any other alcoholic beverage out there. Is the one day of the year where Whites, Blacks, Latinos, and Asians alike can say “Kiss Me, Im Irish” without getting odd stares.

In Boston, they dye the river green. As they also do in Indianapolis. Savannah (Georgia) dyes its downtown city fountains green. And in Missouri twelve city blocks are painted kelly green before the start of the parade.

So how do San Franciscan’s celebrate this Green holiday? Well, despite the fact, that our very own mayor, Gavin Newsom is Irish Catholic himself, since1852, San Francisco has held a huge St Patricks Day Parade (typically the weekend before).  And of course, as environmentally conscious San Franciscans are, the theme of this years parade was “Go Green!”Guinness

So what about the day of? Even though St Patrick’s Day falls in the middle of the work week, it wont stop thousands of local San Franciscan’s from hitting up the most popular Irish Pubs in the city. Here is a compilation of the 10 best Irish Pubs in the City (according to 7 x 7 magazine).

Feel free to comment if you agree or disagree with the rankings.

Bottoms up, everyone! Happy St Pattys Day!
